In the recent week I have lost about 10-15 bunches of grapes off of my vines, that is on top of it being a bad grape year all around. Well today I solved the mystery of the grapes and affirmed that I have a smart dog. You see I found moo today needing to get washed as she had a purple face and paws, i noticed this as she was climbing the structure that supported the vines and with one paw she would knock down a bunch of grapes. Well now we know the truth, moo was eating the grapes and my chance of making wine this year is near null.
On a lighter note I am looking at going climbing in VT this weekend and searching for good seats to Don Carlo at the Royal Opera House on the 18th of September This will be my first Verdi opera of the season.
Alas I have done a bit of web work today also and that is always fun. So at 3:30 i think it is time for me to call it a day, oh I almost forgot / I have started my new fictional tale of a horrific office – A Horror of an Office – by me synopsis and chapters 1-3 setting up some main characters and some of the plot is done. I will post new chapters as I get them done!
Started the climb up around 7:30 am, Let’s be clear that this is a punishing hike if you are not prepared for it. My goal for today’s climb my first in 22 years (Besides my climb to the Parthenon in Athens) was the Base Camp for Skiers and Hikers. The Rangers Shack. They say to the top takes 6.5 hours and to this base (Camping Area) takes about 3 Hours (Notice the error in the book!)It should be noted that it is All Steep and all Rocks. Get ready for rock hopping! I saw quite a few lose faith on the way up and not go further and worse on my way down they were still struggling down. So I have a Few Tips:
- Get the Right Gear (I thought I was good but I looked Like a Tourist on the Mountain)
- Pack Enough water and make sure you know the weather. Way too much stuff with me
- Food is good!
- This first part of the climb that I am talking about will test and challenge you.
After a brief break headed to “lunch” rock… Not way up the alpine way but perhaps 5-7 floors straight up (Huge Rock Stairs, if you are under 6′ you may need to use hands to pull you up but the view is worth it, after another short walk and rock hopping! The Rocks are everywhere and you are always hopping and climbing – This Climb will test you if You Smoke, Do not workout or Walk much think about hiking some cool trails and driving up.
After this another 1/2 hour up and about 3/4s of an hour past my goal and I took some pictures, looked at another set of giant stairs — smiled at my accomplishment — rested for a few — skipped the last hour to the summit, as it was not my goal of the day and I started heading back down, Frankly — Down=Harder then the trip up.
Going down I have to say I saw many people that shouldn’t have done the hike. People that I passed on the way up still had not gotten to the base and were considering going down… I Let them know it got no easier and they needed to decide what they wanted!
That is what this mountain will do, it will challenge you. Over the next few weeks I will go up before a trip to Europe, I will take the Lions Head Trail with a goal of the summit. I will plan 10 hours and like this time, I will achieve what i set out to do, I will also not consider this mountain as anything but rock hopping and climbing!
Total Hike Time up and down today was about six hours and 10 minutes.
Like having my personal blog back again. This morning i did all my machine workouts, my free weights, running and I did a 30 minute 190 degree F sauna while watching Stargate episode “Any enemy of my enemy is my friend!” So a good workout overall. To cap it off I will walk around for the day with ankle weights strapped to my legs.
From a engineering perspective I will be working on screen shots of my new prevent field that I am doing for 34aLabs.com. Almost ready to unveil the new products. Did a survey on CKEDITOR bits for SharePoint and 100% said Open source so after i hike up the mountain weather permitting I will publish them.
Quick Survey of the day:

I think i will work today standing up. I think this is perhaps the best way to finish a great workout day. Time to go look for September flight possibilities and to give a quick scan of the new novella i am writing: http://ahorrorofanoffice.blogspot.com/
Oh and it is definitely IE8 that is freaking out once you use tabs, I do not get it!

Have a great day
Just got my new hiking shoes from The North Face. Good people, great customer service. One problem, the shoes they shipped were two different sizes! I called, got a person, they reviewed my order, apologized and were overnighting me a new pair.
Way to go The North Face http://www.thenorthface.com/catalog/index.html
I have been up since 5am as I start my workout routine for my trip to Nepal. This mornings workout did kill me but I have to say energy is sometimes a must. One Whole Garlic, sliced into large pieces, 3 scallops, one small onion and a couple mushrooms in triple virgin olive oil with some basil and I feel whole again
You know Garlic has many benefits:
Ok after that i feel that I am ready to have a good afternoon workout and I have a call scheduled to the left coats at 1pm and Europe at 4pm…
Dogs in the Vatican Museum
This mornings workout was hard, perhaps it was the Chianti at dinner or the Perroni that made that happen. I think it was the free weights that did me in or maybe the sauna.
Checking out the top searched parts of my sites this AM and there was a huge interest in CKEDITOR for SharPoint. I am assuming this is because the CKEDITOR is released. I need to get this open source solution for MOSS Publishing out ASAP before someone else gets it out.
Spent a good half hour on the STate Department web site last night as I was trying to determine what their NEPAL alerts were for and no luck. I will pick up the phone and call them today. I see no need to stop the training for Mt. Everest.
Updated my weread profile: http://weread.com/profile/index.php?id=39709758
I am not one to have a To Do list but my web list of things that must get done should be done today.
I must say doing an early morning workout was good but I am now going to two a days from now till the End of April-March. This is when I will do a cool tour like this one to Mt. Everest Base Camp. With this in mind and the 6-8 hour days of Hiking I just want to be at peak health so I can enjoy the view. So I will rotate and do Legs in mornings and upper body in afternoons – Oh and I will of course try to eat better! So time for some lunch and a workout.
