rob in from of Assyrian sculpture
Well I am coming up on my last day in London. It has been a good trip and I have to say I have had my fix as related to both arts and culture. The Greek and Assyrian sculpture was great. Now I have to note that the friezes from the Parthenon were good and it is worth seeing the whole exhibit I strongly suggest, when travel is so affordable, go to Athens! There is nothing like going to see and touch things where they stand verses in a room.
However do not dismiss the value of things in the room. You can go into the enlightenment room of the British Museum and look at the items in a room and Imagine how they changed the world. If you are lucky enough there will be a table set up and you can have hands on to some of the artifacts.
I have been writing up my technical post regarding the Standards-Next meeting at City University here in London and I think it is coming out OK. It is designed to take the reader through the thought process of Initial Evidence, Research, and Findings and then how to best present them to successfully argue your point or position. It will be posted on my Tech Blog

Well, It is of course important to keep the weekend hike going while preparing for Mt. Everest. The problem was the weather as the only good day was today. Sunday, a day where the Eagles are just Killing it, Farve is doing it and a night where the pats will with any luck will lose 🙂 Yes I do not like the Pats, oh well! In the end 2 out of 3 will do just fine.
So the top altitude today was 1800 Feet. not a summit but a good up and down 1.5 hour hike with a view with a return time of halftime.
On another note After the 4pm game I need to pack for London.
So, I will be staying in the SOHO area of London as I research my new book in the British Museum. I am starting to get excited for this new book! So the order of business of the day, I continue to prepare for my Mt. Everest Base Camp adventure this spring in Nepal. It will be grueling with 6 plus hour hikes daily up for a week, and then the same back down. Granted there will be huts, and food, and history… So today for training I did something other than Mt Washington. First was the Avalon Trail to Mt field. I have some words for it, “Fun, Pleasant and wet.” There were frogs and very few people. A Nice Hike. Well that was until this last mile to Mt Avalon, that was a steep climb Steep, Severe, Scrambling amongst Rocks. When done there was a sign, “1 Mile to Mt field and 100 yards to Mt Avalon Summit.” It was a day for both… So 100 yards up to an amazing view of Mt Washington and the Presidents. I have to note that it was worth it but not for the weak of heart, that last mile or so is steep, unlike Mt. Washington it has some breaks beforehand, but that climb is big. The first picture is me sitting on the Summit of Avalon. Now it was a bit of Rock Climbing up the wall to the summit but worth it. For those of you that took the fast route to the Parthenon in Athens this is nothing.
After a lunch it was time to hike to the summit of Mt. Field. It was pleasant at first, a real joy after lunch. Then it got severe, at least four steep climbs (Ouch) but then there was the Sky and the Tree-line, that was a quick mile. OOPS nope there was another set of very steep climbs, it was not the Summit instead it just was a clearing,. Although it was not the top of the mountain, to be humorous, I assume, someone put a summit pile to increase the height of the fake summit.
It had to be another hour up to the summit but I made it. Another Summit with a goal of base camp! Does that make sense???
What they do not tell you in the trail guides: If you have 1.5 Miles of Steep Climb going up, you are going to work just as hard going down. But as the Everest Guide says, it tests you, it lets you know who you are and what you can do. That matters. I need to pick a Mountain or two for next week, I am doing Mt. Washington at the end of the month and then meeting some friends in DC to Hike there. In between, I will do a hike from Soho to the Tower of London.
I will add one last pic, a vista from the top of MT Field (Note Mt Avalon was the View and a challenge, Mt. Field will remind you that you were there the next morning!
[some facts that eluded me earlier
Mt. Field (4340’) is the highest peak within the Willey Range, which rises from the western boundary of Crawford Notch State Park.
Mt. Avalon (3342’)
and the best view (vista) is Avalon and where i had lunch]

Well it was a long week so far and i was able to post a brief story of how and why CynthiaSays was created. It is a good story of what we did in the day and how it is still popular today. In addition I planned my mountain hiking trip up Mt. Field for tomorrow. Just working on conditioning as I want Everest in the Spring. In addition I booked my trip to London, a little research will be done on my third chapter of a work of fiction I am working on and for the I need to go to the British Museum Enlightenment Gallery and the National Gallery – of course one does not need an excuse to go to these places.
I will try to take a trip to Stonehenge as well, not for research just because I have never been there. I am taking a day off tomorrow from my new Novella, A Horror of An Office for many reasons not excluding my hiking trip to MT Field. I have to help a friend move on Saturday so it appears the next new chapter will be on Sunday, maybe I will do three then!
I think I will also do a self portrait in Charcoal this weekend, i need to do something to keep up with my artwork! That and of course some reading. I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!
Well I have a big Hike on Friday so I need to get a workout in, second of the day. Had a good morning, couple calls to EU, some discussions on HERA and AChecker. It seems that the economy is slowly turning around in the EU and this is good. My second workout will be backwards today, I will start with the Sauna, you have to love the fall weather and then I will move to my Machines and free weights! I will be ready for Everest this spring!
Chapter 5 – Partners (draft) is ready from my new work of fiction, Novella Form. Today i seem to have a good balance, so on days where one has good balance it is time to practice scales. I will work to get my fingers in shape as well as the rest of my workout!
So when my Fingers are done and my neighbors have heard enough of my bad playing, I think I will turn to my Rosetta Stone for a Italian and Spanish Lesson!
Cheers,
Rob
Hello All, Well I am halfway through my new Novella, “A Horror of an Office” Still very draft and I just finished Chapter 4 – Salt Lake, Acme Software, and EMAIL…, check it out. In addition I booked my flight to the UK for September, Some Art at the National Gallery, some History at the British Museum and an Opera at the Royal Opera House, simply perfect.
In addition I just got my Opening Night invite to the Opera Company of Philadelphia, Madama Butterfly! Excellent.
If you are the type to support the arts you may want to support the Opera Company of Philadelphia, it is Tax Deductible!
Looks like the Dollar is pretty good versus the pound also for the UK Trip. I have to do a presentation of Prevent Fields for SharePoint, the Only Enterprise compliance solution … And when this is over it is time for a good beer from the Czech Republic as tomorrow is pasta day.
Cheers,
Rob
