Today is our last day. For me, Antarctica will be missed. We are starting the day on Deception Island where I hope we land. Winds are very high with even stronger gusts. It was fun this morning to stand out on the bridge level and watch the ship enter the volcano, Deception Island; a collapsed volcanic cone formed this.
Upon entry of the volcano, we where able to spot Whalers Port promptly and we also saw an Argentina Coast guard ship in the same place. I hope we will be able to land so we can walk on the beach and see the view through Neptunes window after a short hike. This afternoon the ship sets off for the Half Moon Island of the South Shetland Islands for anther landing to see Chin Strap penguins and maybe some fur seals. That will be the end of our visits down here.
I hope to sleep much and write a few notes on the crew of the tour operator and the ship crew itself. So cross your fingers for me that calm winds will prevail so I can land on two more islands before I go home.
