One of my joys in life is swimming, I can swim for hours, cold water warm water, I am blessed with a body that can keep a stable temperature. So with my night over and plans for a visit to a Maasai village in the morning (The Massai: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maasai_people, ) and some Swahili lamb stew in the stomach I decided it was time to honor Hiawatha Island with a swim in the pool, that is on a hill, and yes the Lodge claims it is the only pool of its type in Africa. So I swam, and I have to add, it was an amazing site – the star field that is – no words – albeit the water was a bit warm.
Oh, I have calculated what it will take to complete Kilimanjaro – two Mt. Washington’s and a Mt. Tom and for fun a Black mountain – remember people I have nine days and at least a couple more swimming under the stars of the southern hemisphere. If i am disappointed in anything it is that the water is so warm here in Tanzania.
